About Rotaract

Rotaract is a Rotary-sponsored service club for young men and women ages 18 to 30. Rotaract clubs are usually community-based or university-based and are sponsored by a local Rotary club making them true "partners in service" and key members of the Rotary family. Through the Rotaract program, young adults not only augment their knowledge and skills, but they also address the physical and social needs of their communities while promoting international understanding and peace through a framework of friendship and service.

About The Rotaract Club of Colombo

Thirty Five years back in the memorable year of 1969, the Rotaract Club of Colombo was founded by Rtn. Ruzli Hussain. The Rotaract movement is a registered non-profit generating social service organization under Rotary International. Thus the Rotaract Club of Colombo falls under the guardianship of the Rotary Club of Colombo. The Club has produced some of the finest businessmen/women, professionals and academics Sri Lanka has ever seen. The Club has been able to mould individual characters into fine and outstanding men and women, and yet continues to do so.

The Club engages in four avenues of service, which are namely Community Service – which is a common passion amongst the members to serve humanity to the best of their individual capacities, Professional Development – whereby the youth can strengthen their knowledge, skills and talents, International Understanding – broadens horizons and embraces foreign cultures and traditions and finally Club Service – a means for the members to bond and enjoy the Rotaract movement harmoniously.

The Club over the years have successfully orchestrated and staged numerous outstanding projects and events, which have earned the Club deep respect and admiration in both Rotaract and Rotary, not to mention the greater public. The Club has also earned District Citations in the past 4 consecutive years from the Rotaract District for balanced activities and projects during the Rotaract year. The Club has paved the way in Rotaract and set standards which are still to be matched. The Club meets every first and third Tuesday of every month, at 6:30pm at the Rotary Centre, Colombo 2.
