ABOUT CHITRA LANE SCHOOL
FOR THE SPECIAL CHILD
Established in
1967, the Chitra Lane School is a government
approved charity. It is a day school providing
educational, vocational, and extra curricular
for 265 intellectually impaired children between
the ages of 5-22 years. The aim of the school
is to help those with special needs to develop
to their fullest potential thus, enabling them
to lead independent and useful lives, both at
home and in the community.

ABOUT YOUR VOLUNTEER WORK
Art Programme –
The Art Programme
functions as a vehicle for affording art as
a form of therapy for students with special
needs. The Art Room has an ongoing need for
volunteers who ideally have a background in
art. Volunteers can do various activities with
the children from fine art painting, to sculpture,
and crafts. Those able can also devise individual
lesson plans and projects. The students work
is displayed at an annual exhibition at the
National Art Gallery.
Minimum Age – 18 yrs and above
Skills/Experience Required – Volunteers
should have a genuine interest in working with
Infants to young adults who have intellectual
impairments and special needs.
Time Commitment – Flexible
